I’ve always been intrigued by the Steampunk scene and love the way it blends technology with aesthetics. It is the completely opposite of modern design. Steampunk is over the top, lots of valves, brass, copper and shiny bits.
Steampunk is sub-section of sci-fi that became popular during the 1980s and 1990s. It refers to technology set in a time where steam power was still widely used – usually 19th century Victorian Britain – and is usually mixed with elements of sci-fi or fantasy.

H.G. Wells, Mark Twain and Jules Verne influenced early Steampunk, and reached mainstream with what can be considered the first Steampunk movie Wild Wild West, starring Will Smith. Today it still has a large following with numerous people modifying modern day gadgets, or inventing entirely new Steampunk technologies.
Gaining wider usage in fiction, movies, it’s also becoming a common theme in computer games due to it’s alternative design and lack of limitations. Games with elements of Steampunk are Bioshock 1/2, World of Warcraft, Planescape: Torment, Jade Empire, Crimson Skies, and Fallout 3.
